2022 Jaguar I-Pace Changes Streamline Lineup, Improve EV

Chris Teague | Jun 09, 2021

The I-Pace was Jaguar’s first, and remains its only, fully-electric vehicle. When it debuted, the vehicle attracted attention for its design and capability and won several awards, including the 2019 World Car of the Year and World Car Design of the Year. After skipping the 2021 model year, the 2022 Jaguar I-Pace sees notable changes heading into 2022, including a reduction in trim levels, faster charging, and new standard features.

One Trim Level, Faster Recharging Times - Find the best Jaguar deals!

Jaguar has simplified the 2022 I-Pace lineup, removing two trim levels to leave only the previously range-topping HSE model. The shift to a single trim level means that many features held back as options in years past are now standard equipment. The 2022 Jaguar I-Pace gets several upscale standard features that include 16-way heated and cooled power-adjustable seats, Windsor leather upholstery, LED headlights, a power tailgate, and 20-inch wheels.

Jaguar is leaving the powertrain untouched from the 2020 model year, which means the I-Pace will still see 394 horsepower from its dual-motor setup. Improvements come on the charging side, where the I-Pace now gets a faster 11-kilowatt onboard charger. When connected to a 100-kW DC charger, the vehicle can recover up to 63 miles of range in just 15 minutes.

Improved Infotainment, Driving Assistance Tech - Find the best Jaguar deals!

In years past, Jaguar’s infotainment systems have left much to be desired, but the automaker says its new Pivi Pro software has drastically improved the situation. Simplified menu structures allow drivers to complete most tasks and access nearly all functions in two taps or less. That makes the system easier to use and should reduce distraction while the vehicle is in motion. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as are an 825-watt Meridian sound system and the ability to pair two devices simultaneously with Bluetooth.

The I-Pace’s Pivi Pro system also brings EV-specific features that can help find chargers and map the most efficient route to a destination. Jaguar says that the software will select the best chargers to minimize total travel time and notes that it can display a predicted charge level upon arrival at each charging waypoint. Over-the-air updates allow the automaker to keep the system up to date or add new features and functionality.

Jaguar gifted the 2022 I-Pace with several advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS) as standard features, reserving only a few for added-cost options. The following features are standard equipment:

  • Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go
  • Forward collision warning
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Blind-spot warning
  • Lane-departure warning
  • Lane-keeping assistance
  • Lane-centering assistance
  • Driver monitoring system

Additionally, the 2022 I-Pace includes a head-up display, a safe exit system that warns if it is unsafe to open a door, and traffic sign recognition with an adaptive speed limiter. A 3D surround-view camera system and digital rear camera mirror are available as upgrades.
