Announced:2021 North American Car, Truck, and SUV of the Year Winners
A panel of 50 automotive journalists from the U.S. and Canada have announced the winners of the North American Car, Truck, and SUV awards for the 2021 model year:
- The Car of the Year is the redesigned 2021 Hyundai Elantra
- The Truck of the Year is the redesigned 2021 Ford F-150
- The SUV of the Year is the all-new 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E
Jurors considered 43 new or substantially changed vehicles in selecting this trio of vehicles for the awards. Finalists included the Genesis G80 and Nissan Sentra in the car category, Genesis GV80 and Land Rover Defender in the SUV category, and Jeep Gladiator Mojave and Ram 1500 TRX in the truck category.
Last year, the winners were the Chevrolet Corvette, Jeep Gladiator, and Kia Telluride. Two contributing writers to JDPower.com, Jack Nerad and Ron Sessions, are jurors on the panel.

New features designed to make life easier on the job site also debut, and a new Tremor off-road version of the truck arrives to tide buyers over until a next-generation Raptor hits showrooms.
SUV of the Year: 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E - Find the best Ford deals!
While some could argue that the new Mustang Mach-E is a car and not an SUV, there’s no denying that Ford’s new electric vehicle is impressive. This 5-door sportback takes the fight directly to the Tesla Model Y, making up for its lack of maximum driving range with classic Mustang styling cues and a more thoughtful approach to technology. Perhaps more importantly, the Mach-E demonstrates that legacy automakers can compete with Tesla and other EV startups.
