Audi Announces The Return Of The RS 3 Sedan
Last week, Audi announced the return of the all-new second-generation Audi RS 3 Sedan. An appealing yet attainable entry point to the Audi Sport portfolio, the all-new RS 3 sports an aggressive exterior design paired with progressive interior design elements that emphasize the car's character.
The RS 3 is equipped with 19-inch cast-aluminum wheels and reverse staggered summer performance tires. Developed for use on the race track, Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R motorsport tires are also an available option for the first time. The new Carbon package also adds features akin to its namesake, with carbon fiber mirror housings and a rear spoiler.
Drivers are met with engaging elements in the interior, forming an authentic driver-oriented cockpit. The standard 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit displays relevant performance data through a new “RS Runway” design. In this mode (RS Runway), instrument panel values are displayed in a way that visually resembles an airplane runway – displaying the highest number of revolutions in the foreground and the lowest in the background.
The RS 3 also comes equipped standard with newly developed, larger front steel brakes that offer 20% better cooling than its predecessor. This increased efficiency results from integrated airflow guides in both the bumper and undercarriage.
The five-cylinder engine on the all-new RS 3 is an essential component of the emotional connection between drivers and the Audi Sport brand. The roots of the RS 3 engine can be traced back to the Ur-quattro coupe from the 1980s, and even today, it remains one of Audi’s more powerful engines. With 401 horsepower (an increase of 7 hp) and 369 lb-ft of torque (an increase of 15 lb-ft), the RS 3 achieves 0-60 mph in just 3.6 seconds - 0.3 seconds faster than its predecessor. The U.S. version of the RS 3 is also the most powerful RS 3 in the world, with an exhaust system that further amplifies the sound and presence of the potent five-cylinder engine.
The 2022 Audi RS 3 is scheduled to go on sale this summer with a starting MSRP of $58,900.
