Cadillac Celebrates Launch Of The All-Electric LYRIQ

Dustin Hawley | Mar 25, 2022

General Motors celebrated another significant milestone on Monday, a testament to its commitment to an all-electric future.

Cadillac formally celebrated the official retail production of the atl-new 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ at GM’s Spring Hill, Tennessee, assembly plant. Back in 2020, GM announced a commitment to invest $2 billion in the facility, and the entire Spring Hill team has worked to prepare for the production of the LYRIQ. While the team simultaneously continued to assemble the Cadillac XT5, Cadillac XT6, and GMC Acadia with world-class quality, lhe launch of the LYRIQ was still able to finish ahead of schedule.

Cadillac Celebrates LYRIQ

“The Cadillac LYRIQ sets the standard for the future of Cadillac and marks another major milestone in GM’s commitment to an all-electric future,” said GM President Mark Reuss. “This is a monumental day for the entire GM team. We retooled Spring Hill Assembly with the best, most advanced technology in the world and the team worked tirelessly to complete the preparations nine months ahead of the original schedule.”

The LYRIQ, Cadillac’s first all-electric vehicle, is built on GM’s Ultium Platform, which is the heart and soul of the company’s EV strategy. The platform embodies a standard electric vehicle architecture, with propulsion components like battery cells, modules, packs, Ultium Drive units, EV motors, and integrated power electronics.

Last summer, reservations for the 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ Debut Edition sold out in just over 10 minutes, with both demand and intrigue only continuing to grow thereafter. Additional orders for the 2023 LYRIQ will become available on May 19th.

Consisting of a vehicle assembly plant, metal stamping plant, and an engine plant, GM’s Spring Hill manufacturing complex is the largest GM facility in North America. The complex has built more than 4.5 million vehicles since opening its doors back in 1990.
