Genesis Takes Home J.D. Power Engineering Award For Highest-Rated All-New Vehicle With The GV80
Last week was a cause for celebration at Genesis, with the GV80 SUV receiving the J.D. Power Engineering Award for Highest-Rated All-New Vehicle. Presented to the engineering team responsible for the highest-rated new entry into the market for 2021, the award is a feather in the cap for luxury automaker.
“Genesis is committed to designing and engineering world class-products for consumers around the globe,” said Claudia Marquez, chief operating officer of Genesis Motor North America. “ We are pleased to receive this recognition from J.D. Power. With its refined performance, bold design, leading technologies, and exceptional comfort, it is no surprise that GV80 continues to be a favorite of our customers and industry observers alike.”
This J.D. Power Engineering award combines the results of the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study (IQS) - an initiative that measures new-vehicle quality by the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100) - and the J.D. Power Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study, a research project that measures the overall satisfaction of new-vehicle owners' over the first 90 days of ownership.
For every new vehicle, the IQS score and the APEAL score are calculated and compared to the average for vehicles in each segment (for Genesis, the GV80 occupied the “Premium Upper Middle SUV” segment). Both the IQS and APEAL score carry equal weight in determining the standings for award distribution. The award winner is the vehicle determined by the study to be furthest ahead of its segment average based on the combined score.
