SmartPath, Toyota’s online retailing program, expands this month to include purchase completion online. The company plans to more than double the number of dealerships offering the alternative car-buying method by the end of 2021.

“Our goal is to ensure we create the best experience for our customers and our dealers,” said Jack Hollis, senior vice president, Automotive Operations, TMNA, in a statement.

Toyota first offered SmartPath in 2019. The coronavirus pandemic accelerated the need for the program, and today a majority of consumers are comfortable with purchasing a vehicle online, from conducting research and applying for financing to finalizing paperwork and taking home delivery of a new or used vehicle.

SmartPath provides customers with maximum shopping flexibility, access to real-time inventory and pricing, financing opportunities with Toyota Financial Services, and more. Toyota’s luxury division, Lexus, also offers a version of SmartPath as part of its Lexus Monogram initiative.

“As our customers’ expectations evolve, SmartPath provides our dealers the technology to exceed those expectations,” said Hollis. “Our shared mission is to make the experience of shopping, buying, and owning a Toyota as easy and carefree as driving one.”
