Lexus Electric Car Concept Represents Automaker’s Future
Lexus introduced the RX 400h hybrid SUV more than 15 years ago, making it the first electrified luxury vehicle in the world. Since then, Lexus has sold nearly two million electrified cars and SUVs, and offers nine of them across all of its global markets.
In 2019, the automaker revealed its Lexus Electrified vision for the future, a roadmap for transitioning to electrification while continuing “to provide its customers with the enjoyment and pleasure that cars have to offer.”
Now, the Lexus LF-Z Electrified represents a three-dimensional proof point of that vision. A battery electric vehicle (BEV) concept car, the LF-Z Elecrified possesses the style, performance, and technology that Lexus expects to put on sale by 2025.

Sitting on a new BEV-dedicated platform, the Lexus LF-Z Electrified employs the automaker’s Direct 4 drive system (Lexus calls it a 4-wheel driving force control system). The automaker also says the LF-Z Electrified is infused with Lexus Driving Signature dynamic calibration for seamless, linear response that is faithful to driver’s intentions.
Open, minimalist interior design rules the Lexus LF-Z Electrified concept’s cabin. Occupants sit under a panoramic electrochromic glass roof. At night, an available starry sky projection shows on the glass.
Artificial intelligence learns driver preferences and behaviors, and powers a “lifestyle concierge” based on this information. To ensure driver focus, Lexus emphasizes the use of natural voice recognition, a head-up display, and steering wheel switchgear to operate the infotainment system and other functions.
Additional technology includes a smartphone-based digital key, in-vehicle package delivery service, and a next-generation Mark Levinson high-end audio system with active noise cancellation.
