Mopar Edition Dodge Durango Debuts at SEMA

Chris Teague | Nov 01, 2021

The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show returned this week after a year off in 2020. Automakers and aftermarket equipment manufacturers use the show as a friendly place to demonstrate unconventional and wild builds that wouldn’t fit in at another venue. Some use the opportunity to preview upcoming models, which is precisely what Dodge will do at this year’s SEMA Show with a limited-edition Mopar ’22 Durango.

The SUV builds on a current Durango trim level equipped with a couple of popular option packages. Dodge starts with the Durango R/T AWD trim equipped with the Plus Group and Tow N Go package. Only 250 units will be built, with 200 destined for the United States and 50 for Canada.

Two colors are available for the Mopar Durango, including DB Black or White Knuckle (white). The SUVs get an offset Mopar Blue stripe from the front driver’s side to the vehicle’s back, a blue Mopar front grille badge, and blue Brembo brake calipers. Large 20-inch “Lights Out” (black) wheels are standard. The Durango’s interior sees extensive upgrades with the package that includes:

  • Gauge cluster-mounted Mopar ’22 badge with build number
  • Leather and suede front seats with embroidered Mopar logo
  • Mopar Blue stitching on seats, center console, doors, and instrument panel
  • Mopar pedals
  • Mopar all-weather floor mats

The Mopar Dodge Durango isn’t all show and no-go. Under the hood, the Durango gets a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine that makes 360 horsepower, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Performance upgrades for the SUV come in the form of the “Tow N Go” package, which brings a best-in-class tow rating of 8,700 pounds, three selectable drive modes, an SRT-tuned performance exhaust, and a claimed 145-mph top speed. To manage the increased performance, Dodge added an electronic limited-slip differential and an SRT active damping system. SRT’s Performance Pages app comes built into the infotainment system, offering vehicle monitoring and the ability to change settings for vehicle functions such as transmission shifts and suspension firmness.

Dodge will show off the Mopar ‘22 Durango at the 2021 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, which takes places November 2-5. Customers can begin ordering the package in the first quarter of 2022, and the first vehicles will hit showrooms in summer 2022. Pricing for the package is $3,995 on top of the Durango’s MSRP.
