New 2022 Hyundai Sonata N Line Night Edition on Sale, Car Duster Not Included

Christian Wardlaw | Oct 13, 2021

You don’t need to be a G.I. Joe fan to appreciate the new 2022 Hyundai Sonata N Line Night Edition. Limited to just 1,000 examples, the 2022 Sonata N Line Night Edition first appeared in the movie “Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins.” And if you, like most people, missed the film, well, now you can check out this special-edition Sonata for yourself.

As you can see, the Sonata N Line Night Edition is all blacked out. Apparently, that’s a trend nowadays, because people like spending money on car washes and California car dusters. The good news is that Hyundai knows not everyone wants a black on black on black car, so you can get the Night Edition in both Phantom Black and Quartz White.

In addition to dark chrome trim, matte black 19-inch aluminum wheels, and matte black detailing, the Sonata N Line Night Edition features a rear lip spoiler and wheel center caps rendered in carbon fiber reinforced plastic. If you’re guessing the car’s brake calipers are painted black, you’d be wrong. Instead, they’re red to match the contrast stitching within the cabin.

All kidding aside, the Sonata N Line is an impressive and affordable sports sedan with plenty of room for your better half and your offspring. It features a turbocharged 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine generating 290 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, with the torque available from 1,650 rpm to 4,000 rpm. A sophisticated 8-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (DCT) delivers the motive force to the car’s front wheels.

Additionally, the Sonata N Line boasts larger front and rear brakes, rack-mounted electric steering for improved feel and response, and 19-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in 245/40 tires. All that’s missing is a torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system, but if it had something like that, the Sonata N Line would be stepping on the Genesis G70’s turf.

Exclusive N Line design elements include a front fascia with oversized air intakes, a specific mesh grille insert, and quad exhaust outlet finishers tucked under the unique back bumper. Inside, the N Line features sport-bolstered seats with simulated suede inserts, a sport steering wheel, and aluminum pedals. Ambient lighting is standard, giving you 64 different colors from which to choose.

Hyundai says the 2022 Sonata N Line Night Edition is on sale now, for $34,750 plus a destination charge of $1,025. So hurry to grab one of the 1,000 examples the company plans to produce. And if you’re going with Phantom Black, bring your car duster.
