Why the Jeep Wrangler 392 Price is a Bargain

If you’ve always wanted a Jeep Wrangler with a factory-installed V8 engine, now is your chance to get one. But it’s going to cost some serious coin. The 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 price starts at $73,500, not including the destination charge of $1,495.

To understand the value in that price tag, you should keep a few things in mind:

• Sourcing a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 with the 545RFE transmission and buying a Wrangler V8 conversion kit will cost you about $11,000, according to WranglerForum.com. And that’s if you’re willing and able to perform the powertrain swap yourself, including ownership of all of the necessary tools and equipment.
• The new Wrangler Rubicon 392 is not using a 5.7-liter V8. It has a much more powerful 6.4-liter V8 producing 470 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque.
• A standard Wrangler Rubicon equipped to the same level as the Rubicon 392 costs $58,695 plus destination. That shrinks the price premium for the Wrangler 392 to $14,805.
• There is more to the Wrangler Rubicon 392 than an engine. It’s got a 2-inch factory suspension lift, Fox high-performance shocks, unique suspension geometry, upgraded frame rails, heavy-duty brakes, a Hydro-Guide air intake system, beadlock-capable wheels, and a throaty active dual-mode exhaust system.
• Plus, the Wrangler Rubicon 392 has a factory warranty and, through the Jeep Wave customer care program, you get three years of free scheduled maintenance.

Suddenly, that do-it-yourself project doesn’t seem like a good idea. Unless, of course, you’re starting with a used Wrangler that’s half the price. And you’ve got all the time in world.
