2017 Porsche 911 Review

Overview
When Dr. Ferdinand Porsche couldn’t find a car he wanted he decided to build one himself. And people who love to drive have been grinning ever since. The Porsche 911 is the direct descendent of that machine and its heritage is unmistakable. Choose from five models of this icon from the 911 Carrera to the fantasy-inducing 911 R. Carreras Targas and Turbos are available as coupes or cabriolets. Turbocharged 3.0 and 3.8 liter engines power all but the 911 GT3 and R models. Seven-speed manual transmissions come standard or go for the seven-speed dual-clutch PDK automatic. All-wheel drive is available on Carreras and Targas. Porsche Stability Management keeps you on track and Porsche Active Suspension Management continually adjusts suspension damping at each wheel. If that’s not enough Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control and rear-axle steering are available for truly supernatural handling. Inside the cabin Porsche Communication Management brings your smartphone audio real-time navigation and more to a seven-inch touchscreen. Choose from a variety of colors and options to create a 911 as unique as you are. The Porsche 911. Over half a century of exhilaration.
Technology
The Porsche Communication Management system in all Porsche 911 models features an easy-to-use 7-inch touchscreen where you can control advanced audio navigation and communication functions. Porsche Car Connect lets you transfer destinations from your smartphone’s address book to your vehicle start your car remotely and more. It comes with Apple CarPlay too. Connect Plus gives you wireless internet access from WiFi-enabled devices like tablets smartphones and laptops.
Safety
All Porsche 911 models are equipped with the Porsche Side Impact Protection System. It includes side-impact protection elements in the doors two airbags on each side an upward-inflating head airbag in each door panel and more. 911 Cabriolets and Targas use sensors to monitor pitch and roll road contact and latitudinal and longitudinal forces. The instant a potential rollover is detected Cabriolets deploy two spring-loaded bars behind the rear seats for protection; Targas deploy a steel protection system that adds support to the signature Targa roll bar.
