Forester gets a complete makeover this time around with the start of its fifth generation. It sheds some pounds with a lighter platform. There is one engine, a 182-horsepower, 2.5-liter boxer four-cylinder with continuously variable automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. It gets some welcome safety features such as adaptive cruise control, Subaru Intelligent Drive throttle control, and automatic emergency braking. The Impreza gets some needed enhancements with Subaru's EyeSight safety driver assistance system. It has standard all-wheel drive with its 305-horsepower, 2.5-liter, flat-four turbocharged engine with a five-speed manual transmission. The manufacturer brings on a new model this year into its lineup, the Ascent. Its name is fitting, given its the largest vehicle in the lineup. The eight-passenger vehicle comes loaded with goodies including smartphone connectivity, up to eight USB ports, touchscreen display, and a front collision prevention system. A rearview camera mirror and Entertainment Anywhere Package are optional.
