GMC 2017 Model Overview

A redesigned Acadia crossover SUV arrives for 2017, smaller, lighter, but still able to carry up to 7 people. A new Duramax turbodiesel engine arrives for the Sierra Heavy Duty models, complete with ram-air induction and higher towing and payload capacities. GMC also enhances the Canyon and Sierra 1500 light-duty pickups, upgrades the Yukon and Yukon XL lineups, and continues to offer the Savana full-size van.

2017 GMC Acadia

  • Redesigned crossover SUV
  • Shrinks from full-size to midsize; sheds 700 lbs.
  • Offered with 5- or 7-passenger seating
  • Continues in SL, SLE, SLT, and Denali trim levels
  • Standard 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, front-wheel drive
  • Optional 3.6-liter V-6 engine, all-wheel drive (AWD)
  • Available All Terrain version with unique dual-clutch AWD system
  • Upgraded IntelliLink infotainment system with 8-in. touch-screen display, smartphone-projection technology, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, USB ports in all 3 rows of seats, Teen Driver technology that helps parents monitor vehicle use by children
  • Optional driver-assistance and collision-avoidance technologies
  • Introduces new Rear Seat Reminder technology designed to prevent drivers from accidentally leaving a child, pet, or valuables inside the vehicle

2017 GMC Canyon

  • New 3.6-liter V-6 engine is available, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and providing a fuel-saving cylinder-deactivation system
  • New Denali, Terrain X, and Nightfall Edition versions debut
  • Denali adds luxury in the form of heated and ventilated front seats, added chrome trim, unique 20-in. wheels, and more
  • Terrain X installs off-road suspension, hill-descent control, all-terrain tires, and rugged all-weather floor mats
  • Nightfall Edition provides body-color grille, spray-in bedliner, special 18-in. wheel design
  • Trailer brake controller is an option on trucks with the V-6 engine
  • IntelliLink infotainment system is standard, along with Teen Driver technology that helps parents to monitor use of the truck by children
  • Heated steering wheel now offered for SLT and Denali
  • New colors: Dark Slate, Red Quartz, Mineral

2017 GMC Savana

  • 6.6-liter turbodiesel V-8 engine option discontinued
  • Spray-in cargo area liner for Cargo Van model
  • Reduced number of trim levels for Passenger Van model
  • New color: Dark Slate

2017 GMC Sierra 1500

  • Maximum trailer towing capacity increased to 12,500 lbs. (when properly equipped) for crew cab model
  • Capless fuel-filler neck speeds refueling stops
  • Active grille shutters are standard to make the truck more aerodynamic
  • Standard Teen Driver technology allows parents to monitor truck’s use by children
  • Available low-speed automatic emergency braking system
  • Optional tri-mode power side steps
  • New colors: Dark Slate, Pepperdust, and Mineral

2017 GMC Sierra 2500HD/3500HD

  • New 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel V-8 engine is optional
  • Duramax engine generates 445 horsepower and 910 lb.-ft. of torque
  • Increased towing and payload capacity with Duramax engine
  • New colors: Dark Slate, Pepperdust, and Mineral

2017 GMC Terrain

2017 GMC Yukon/Yukon XL

  • Improved safety with standard Teen Driver and Rear Seat Reminder systems; available low-speed automatic emergency braking
  • Rear-seat entertainment system, upgraded smartphone projection, HDMI/MHL connection, digital headphones, added USB port
  • SLT and Denali equipped with heated and ventilated front seats
  • Denali adds standard head-up display; redesigned 22-in. Ultra Bright wheel option
  • Active grille shutters make the SUV more aerodynamic
  • New Blue Ice instrumentation backlighting
  • New colors: Dark Sapphire Blue and Mineral
