Jeep redesigned its iconic Grand Cherokee SUV for the 2022 model year with upscale styling and impressive tech. At the same time, the automaker released a new, even more premium SUV in the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. The two sport utility models feature opulent interiors and premium finishes throughout. Now, the automaker has announced extended “L” variants of both models.
Though new, the stretched 2023 Wagoneer twins share much of their configurations and options with the standard-length models. What they don’t share, however, are their engines, which are brand-new turbocharged 6-cylinder units with impressive power and efficiency numbers.

The Wagoneer L and Grand Wagoneer L feature evolutionary styling with familiar Jeep touches. The 7-segment grille, upright shape, and beefy lines are all still here—just stretched. The extended-length “L” versions are a full 12 inches longer than the standard Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer and ride on a 7-inch longer wheelbase. Jeep also offers a new Carbide trim level for the Wagoneer L. It features blacked-out exterior trim, black wheels, unique door panels, and black upholstery inside.

The Wagoneer L gets a single-piece gauge cluster, while the Grand Wagoneer L gets a more elaborate 2-piece setup with piano black trim. The latter SUV also has American walnut wood trim and aluminum accents throughout.
All variants come standard with leather upholstery, though higher trims get nicer hides. Captain’s chairs are available for the Wagoneer L and standard for the Grand Wagoneer L. An available power seat system called “Tip n’ Slide,” which literally tips and slides the chair forward, aids access to the third-row seats.
Jeep offers two new powertrain choices in the 2023 Wagoneer L line. The entry-level engine is a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6, making 420 horsepower and 468 pound-feet of torque. An upgraded version of the engine is available that produces 510 hp and 500 pound-feet of torque. Stellantis says that the engine is part of its 2030 electrification plans and helps it achieve its goals by offering high power output with up to 15-percent better efficiency than larger engines. Three Quadra-Trac 4-wheel-drive systems are available, and Jeep’s Selec-Terrain system comes standard. Towing capacity lands at 10,000 pounds, which Jeep says is best-in-class capability.
Jeep says it focused on weight, performance, and reliability with the new Wagoneer and notes the extensive use of aluminum throughout the SUV’s body to cut pounds. Coil springs are standard, but an adaptive air suspension is available. In addition to adjusting ride firmness, the air suspension setup allows the driver to raise or lower the vehicle. Five height settings are available, depending on the selected drive mode.

The Wagoneer L comes with a 10.1-inch touchscreen, and the Grand Wagoneer L gets a 12-inch display. Both units run Uconnect 5, Stellantis’ latest infotainment software. A dash-mounted 10.25-inch passenger display is available, which brings the ability to view exterior cameras, watch shows on Amazon Fire TV, view rear-seat entertainment features, and use the Jeep’s navigation system.
The Wagoneer L comes standard with a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster, which expands to 12.3 inches for the Grand Wagoneer L. The displays are configurable and work with memory settings to provide each user’s desired information. The Grand Wagoneer L adds a rear-seat camera system for monitoring conflicts on road trips, and the SUVs come with 5-color “mood lighting.”
